money can't buy this kind of comedy...
Mar. 14th, 2003 02:47 amToday has been one of the crappiest days I have on record (read: my living memory). Well, actually hardly, I remember some days where I would have given anything to be shot in the head, but thats going back into the depths of almost teenaged depression. God, anyway, this has been the worst day for quite some time.
I got a phonecall at 8:40am from the Toyota service center (read: building full of mechanically-inclined moneygrubbing arseholes) just so they could mention my car has a broken engine fan. Somehow when it was in there for them to attempt to discover why it was overheating two weeks ago they utterly failed to notice this! Regardless, this new fan part will cost something on the order of AU$600, plus of course labor and anything else they happen to come up with. I have approximately AU$300 in my bank account. Happy happy joy joy, this is not.
So my fridge is broken as well, milk lasts around 3 days in my fridge; thanks to the wonderful Louis Pasteur, whom I could almost stand to hug right now if he weren't long dead.
This afternoon after attempting to update the mac developer tools, my laptop spontaneously rebooted, and somehow managed to screw up its filesystem (I think) to the point where I couldn't even log in once it had booted up. This problem was worse than at first it appeared.
It took me 2 hours of messing around with Crossfire's help to even get the ethernet card up so that I could try logging in remotely. This was met with total failure. FTP and other ways of trying to copy my files to another computer so that I could reinstall OSX was also met with total and complete failure. Some IT professional I turn out to be.
Anyway, when I was actually ready to cut my losses and format the drive to reinstall, the CD drive broke itself and now I can't even insert CD's anymore - so the laptop is completely inoperable until I take it to an apple service center.
This means spending even more money, which I can ill-afford to do.
As if this weren't enough, I was trying to deal with a graphics card which has been having problems of late in Rani's computer. I decided to take out my frustrations upon it rather than upon my much more expensive laptop. I snapped the card in half with some effort in the kitchen in front of Alia. He was scared, and I'll probably be finding little capacitors around the living area for weeks.
I was supposed to have some money to make a HECS payment soon too... this would be the perfect time to discover that Centrelink are going to halt my payments, or that my postbox has actually expired (rather than me just not getting any mail at all).
