Yay, now there's a good thing; CDex actually does easily encode to ogg vorbis, which means I can keep all my musical backups guilt-free of the fraunheffer institute and all that jazz. Whee.
There's something about SD CD's which is really going to annoy me I can tell. Besides being asked if I could tell the difference between one of them and a regular CD without having the comparable CD media being played. Oh of course... I'm supposed to care about sampling rates of more than 44,000 kilohertz then? *heh*
What a wanky standard. The fact that they cost the same as DVD's and are essentially DVD's has absolutely nothing to do with the way that the music producing companies are going to start pushing them in the coming months I'm sure. Or maybe its that the players cost upwards of $500 (again). Does this seem familiar to anyone who bothered to keep up with hi-fi equipment (at great personal expence no doubt) in the late 80's and early 90's.
It smacks of sameness to me, really it does. There's nothing new under the sun. :)
I think I'll just take my relatively normal ears which can't hear the difference I'm imagining between various other silly standards and decently encoded ogg's... over into this room, and put up a sign that says "Only Normal Music Enthusiasts Allowed".
Someone please remind me to mail those books... please... *sigh*
