For some reason I've been listening to "The Clash" all morning, which while in itself is actually quite a good thing, pales a little when I realise that I only have a few songs by them, and that does not necessitate an album of material. While you can buy most of the produced material on amazon.com, downloading even anything this morning is something of a trial by fire.
So to move onward to comment on the Clash's recordings; they are something of a landmark in UK punk rock. What is now a vintage album was one of the more vital contempory production of the time. London's Fight Club of the 70's would be a good analogy; alienated youths with dead-end jobs, vice addicts and punk bands in basements and garages leading to the release of one of the most powerful popular debuts in UK punk history. Nowdays of course this kind of rebellion gets turned into money.
I thought that DSL was supposed to be fast? Well... I guess I should think again when its powered by Telstra. I'm almost at the point yet again where I don't have a care how cheap it is to subscribe to their service in comparison to other, smaller competitors. One other extremely annoying thing is the fact tha the answering machine here seems to cut out any phonecalls coming from outside the house from other landlines (either that or we've picked up some kind of prank caller, which I don't think is beyond the realms of possibility).
So if anyone wants to chip in and buy me a CD from my wishlist at Amazon, then all you need to do is let me know that you are besmirched with a many-digit bank balance, and I'll see if I can get the URL online. You might also consider paying for a new power supply for my maternal parental unit's computer, which is currently languishing under the tv cabinet, dull and lifeless.
Much like my inspiration to write journal entries up until the past few days...
