The annoying thing about computers is that when the effort is finally made to get into them and start to think that you're pretty good, you discover (like I did) that most of your friends are typically more hardcore (read: insanely fanatical) about only slightly differing fields of interest.
It almost makes me want to continue studying psychology, for that matter.
Now for another expose concerning work. Don't have a concrete project to get started on, can't make myself want to do anything interesting. Lack of motivation can be quite isolating.
Then again I could always just be drawing. I need some kind of little sketch pad on which to draw things. I might even be good at drawing comics.
Which leads me into the thought that perhaps I should read more User Friendly.
At some point today I might even stop feeling sickly. Rani is feeling sickly too at the moment, which is badness. I'm assuming that we both have the same thing, although I'm happy to take lots of drugs and wander around in a daze (consequently still actually being physically present at work), whereas she prefers to sleep.
Oh, in other news, Orinoco decided to get busy on the last day of 2001 and make a laser powered glowstick. Whilst being particularly geeky, it also looks rather cool. I had some even more grandiose ideas for something such as this, say if you had a large amount of photon LEDs, lots of spare time and the wherewithal to program various controller chips, you could make something akin to those bedside clocks which you have to move in order to see the time (this is hard to explain, but the basic idea is that when you flick the clock which is mounted on a spring, the LED's flash in a sequence which displays the time floating as if in midair). Now wouldn't that be cool if you could suddenly display say a yellow smiley face composed out of seemingly nothing at a rave? Surrounded by trippers? Tripping out yourself maybe? *grin*
I think it has all the hallmarks of tremendous fun. :)
Speaking of which, there is a new film out called Rat Race, which if you're a comedic fan of John Cleese or Rowan Atkinson you probably owe it to yourself to see.
In other news I should probably make some kind of effort to check my email at least semi-regularly.
In the tradition of John Cleese, it is now time for something completely different (seeing as I'm spending most of this entry rambling away about virtually nothing. May I introduce, the "Rat Bastard Shaking Console:"
function init() {
setTimeout("shake(3)",1000);
setTimeout("shake(3)",4100);
}

function shake(n) {
if (self.moveBy) {
for (i = 10; i > 0; i--) {
for (j = n; j > 0; j--) {
self.moveBy(0,i);
self.moveBy(i,0);
self.moveBy(0,-i);
self.moveBy(-i,0);
}
}
}
setTimeout("shake(5)", 5000);
}
With that, I think my work here is more than done. :)

The hallucinogens still had a firm grip around my throat...
Maybe boredom really does taste like chocolate, after all.
