without christmas / ~o
(poorly sung to the tune of "White Christmas" usually rendered in the dulcet tones of Bing Crosby)
At some point I should really buy Christmas presents elsewhere other than online at places like thinkgeek. Or failing that I could even buy people things from places other than the internet.Someone please remind me to complete chiquibeads.com and just await Alex's new site design? *bleh* Actually I should get Rani to do it. Then she can design the next site.
Unreal 2 looks fantastic. I'm not overly sure if I'm motivated enough to buy computer parts good enough to actually play it. I guess all I'd need is the video card though. Some geforce3 fantasical thing with enough polygon-crunching power to kill an elephant.
I'm not an overly dedicated geek lately though. I bought some hardware from my favorite online australian ordering place, EYO Technologies for an obscene amount of money last week. However its been sitting on a box at Tardinha's place for 3 days now because I kinda can't be stuffed installing it. I don't have enough screws to put in another motherboard, so I'm hoping there's some in the box.
Plus I almost threw away the CPU when I got my box full of goodies, because I didn't think it was big enough to actually be a CPU, and it was wrapped in a highly protective layer of shock-absorbent cardboard, and adhesive sealed with tamper-proof sellotape.
Oh on another layer of interest, today I managed to get big brother working for all of the mine.nu domains which I conveniently host for various things. So all of you users lucky enough to own your own domainything, you can now log in directly to your shell account through the subdomain upon which the web-presence resides (nobody else can do this), and you can page the admin [me unfortunately (either for me or you, depending on which way you like to view the "actually fixing problems" part of being a sysadmin)] if you notice a problem. Now if you're interested, then the Big Brother page resides here. Enjoy!
I'm in yet another thought process about going to Shanghai next year to teach english. I'm not sure whether or not it would really be a good idea though. I don't want to leave everyone here. That would make it really hard. Conversely, I think I've caught a mild dose of the travel bug lately, given that I've been wanting to go to Sydney and Melbourne and road trip down the eastern coast of Australia, etc... *bleh* Plus going to China would be so so cool! Especially living there for awhile... the fact that I have rudimentary mandarin would help, and if I came back fluent in it, well... so much the better.
I guess overall I do want to go. If its for 3 months then I think... yes, maybe. :)
