on a shipwrecked voyage of discovery
Oct. 29th, 2001 02:00 pmWell, work's only slightly irritating today; I'm going to feel dirty by this afternoon since I've got to write exit consoles.
Not exactly my favorite activity... :(
What makes this worse is that I've lost my wallet and Rani's gone back to the sunshine coast... so I'm desolate as well as destitute.
Yay for getting a new switch so that the net connection in the office is a little more stable. I would have thought that Intel hardware would have been a little better value than this particular switch; when you walk past it sometimes it has a hiccup and reboots, or you can tap it with a screwdriver and suddenly there's more packet loss than usual.
*heh* The funny thing is when you're explaining that you have to replace a switch to a salesperson, and you don't want an Intel becasue you don't trust them now, and the fact that you've been hitting and kicking your current switch comes up.
"You're not supposed to bash your networking hardware, you know..."
"Yes well we do, so we require a switch that we can bash with a hammer if the need arises."
It was interesting seeing the confusion cross his face, several times. :)
