Well... the last weekend gone was pretty freaky. Everything seemed to happen. Mother's Day, trouble, moving things around, getting things done... I haven't really had a weekend at all.
On Saturday night something really bad happened too.
My friend Panda and I were walking down the street to the apartment, where I'd parked the car. Anyway we were waiting to cross the road and this car was waiting with its indicator on, we thought they were waiting for us to cross the road so we hurried across.
The car curb-crawled after us for almost a block, we expected them to wind down the window and yell something, and were joking about how they definitely couldn't think that going slowly along the road would impress us at all....
But then when we walked into the driveway, they pulled in as well. We started worrying then, thinking that maybe they were going to do something nasty, the only possible relatively good scenario that could possibly have happened would have been that they wanted to purchase drugs of some sort from us; but we didn't really look like the sort that would be carrying.
As we were just reaching my car, they pulled just past it and parked. The driver (a tall caucasian blonde man wearing a tight black t-shirt, showing off a lot of muscle mass) jumped out, as did another man who was in the passenger side. The man who was driving half-yelled something at us, whilst running around his car towards me... I said something about how if he was looking to score drugs or anything we weren't interested.
Here's where the situation got very very hairy though. We couldn't have backed away and gone out onto the street again, it was too far. We couldn't go up to the apartment becasue I didn't have keys for the front door, so that would have been a bad idea. We definitely could have gone around to the back of the building, since it was dark there and they would have grabbed us or something even more awful.
So, the only option was what I did, reaching into my bag and clicking the doors of the car open with the remote key, and very quickly jumping into the car. I started the engine and pulled away, the man who was driving knocked, hard on the window, and yelled something about making me wait and open the car door (not kidding about this either, he was actually serious).
As I reversed out, anotherman jumped out of the back seat of the car, which I only just noticed then had tinted windows, then I'd completed a 3-point turn and we were escaping to the road.
I've never really driven before that hyped up on adrenaline. I know what cold sweat is, but driving when you feel like you're about to faint is not the best experience either... it took me almost 30 minutes to calm down, and Amanda even longer.
